Facial Skin Care Routine Tips: Road to healthier and clearer skin in 4 EASY STEPS!

Acne is one of the biggest skin problems people are facing right now and even before, this affects a big population around the world. Both younger and adults experience this kind of skin condition which makes them feel a bit uncomfortable when facing other people. It primarily involves hormonal imbalance with external factors including diet, lifestyle, and hygiene practices.

A lot of women nowadays have these so-called skin care routines. Skin care routine products include facial moisturizer, toner, micellair water, whitening creams, under eye creams and patches, teeth whitening, facial wash, facial masks, sunblock, sunscreens, etc. These products are known to help us have healthier, brighter, clearer, acne-free skin goals.

Upon reading up to this part, I want to remind you that it’s never too late to buy and have your own skin care routine kit. All of us have different skin types, mine is different from yours, and yours is different from her. This basic 4-step routine is the basic key not just for us, but for everybody out there. These steps are for everyone whether you have normal, dry, combination, acne or oily skin.

Regardless of the skin type, here are the 4 basic steps everyone should know and follow:

  1. Cleanse
  2. Exfoliate
  3. Moisturize
  4. Protect

Cleanse

Proper cleansing is the step where you remove dirt and makeup from your skin. This step can be done twice a day (day and night). Apply the cleanser to your skin with the use of your hands, any preferred method will do, make sure all parts are covered. Then, rinse thoroughly.

Most cleansers available on the market are either in the form of gel, lotion, foam, or milk. The effectiveness of using the product depends on people's skin type. If you have oily skin, I recommend you to avoid foam cleansers because it will dry out your skin more. Then if you have oily skin, you must avoid milk cleansers. For best results, you must find the cleanser that best matches your skin type.

Exfoliate

Exfoliation is considered to be the critical and most crucial step to remove dead skin cells out and make a way for healthier ones. This step will remove the dead skin cells that block pores and cause breakouts, such as pimples and blackheads. The exfoliating routine after cleansing your skin depends on your skin type, if your skin is dry exfoliate less.

There are two types of exfoliants: the physical and the chemical one. A physical exfoliant is usually a face scrub with rough feeling usually made from natural ingredients like nuts, stones, plants, or extracts. The chemical uses types of acids like AHAs and BHAs (aka hydroxy acids) to gently dissolve away dead skin cells.

Moisturize

Applying moisturizer should be done daily at day and night to keep your skin hydrated and prevent flaking and dullness. You can also use facial massagers as addition to your skin care kit, this will allow the lotion or serum to be absorbed by your skin more efficiently.

If you’re to use a treatment serum, your routine would usually include a cleanser, serum, and moisturizer followed by sunscreen. When your face is completely oily, you should apply a gel moisturizer that is more liquid in form. When your skin tends to get drier, you can choose to apply thicker creams. Also, do not forget to add an eye cream to your daily hydration routine.

Protect

What you have done to pamper your skin everyday would be wasted if you don’t protect it with SPF. Daily use of sunscreen rated SPF 30 or greater is vital for keeping skin younger-looking, protected, and resilient.

While following these routines, one must also observe proper diet and hygiene, eat healthy and always stay hydrated because drinking plenty of water is good for your skin as well. You must also have proper exercise and enough rest to avoid acne breakouts. Stick to products that do the basics such as cleaning and removing the dirt, providing enough moisture to the skin, and protect your skin from the sun’s rays. Choose products that your skin is already comfortable with.

There’s nothing wrong in following these routines as long as you get reminded to get the best products that work well on your skin, and discontinue using them if it causes allergic reaction to your skin. So when you feel like you’re beat for the day, give yourself a little pamper by doing these simple acts of self-love to relax once in a while. There’s no doubt your skin will be healthier and radiant in a matter of days if you follow proper steps and directions to use.
